News: Max Clifford Says "Simon Cowell Is Not Engaged to Mezhgan Hussainy"

Simon Cowell's publicist Max Clifford says Cowell has denied rumours that he is about to marry.

Reports claim that the X Factor judge was engaged to his girlfriend Mezhgan Hussainy and set for a "showbiz wedding".

Cowell's friend and publicist Max Clifford has now told Us Weekly that the star has not yet proposed to Hussainy.

"I spoke to Simon in London yesterday afternoon, just before he took his flight back to LA," Clifford said. "I asked him, 'Look, are you engaged? Is it true?' and he said, 'No! No. I'm not engaged'."

Clifford added: "Yes, they are an item. Yes, they're happy. But they're not engaged. That's straight from Simon's mouth."
